UPDATED RIDE INFORMATION CLICK HERE.
The Far A Way endurance riders club invites all riders to join us on our eventful weekend at Imbil Showgrounds over the Easter weekend. This is our clubs first ride for the season and this year we are incorporating two FEI events into our schedule. The CEI 84KM * and CEI 120KM ** will help more horses and riders gain qualifications with the CEI* being a qualifying ride for the Young Horse Challenge. Our signature Far A Way 320km marathon is our main event and is one of the nine events held over the five days. Unlike previous years, the club has decided to move the second half of the major events from the Monday to the Sunday. The idea will ease the overall workload for many volunteers however still allowing riders to enjoy competing in more than one event over the weekend.
Please check our website for further ride details (including Nomination procedures) closer to the date at www.faraway.asn.au. Information will be posted informing of updates.
The course will be similar to that of previous years with some hills and undulating country as well as plenty of flat going. Water will be readily available for horses and depending on weather conditions it may also be naturally abundant throughout the course.
320KM Marathon:
Pre-ride vetting will be on the Thursday with entrants completing 80KM per day over the 4 days of Easter. Vetting will be the AERA standard.
Saturday Ride Programme:
The ever popular Saturday program will remain with the AERA National 84KM Endurance Ride, a 40KM Training Ride and a 20KM Social ride. Vetting will be the AERA standard.
Sunday Ride Programme:
Sunday’s ride program differs from previous years. The club are conscious of the Bruce Highway traffic on Easter Monday and have moved the Monday events forward to allow everyone an easier journey home.
A CEI** 120 KM ride has been added to the program to assist with riders qualifying through the FEI system. The Sunday 84KM AERA and CEI * 84KM rides will be run alongside one another with standard FEI vetting of 64bpm within 20 minutes. To assist with the running of the veterinary ring, the 40KM ride on Sunday will also use VGIH vetting.
Both CEI events will have an Open and Young Riders division.
The 120km** will consist of 4 legs, with the 84km rides being 3 legs. (Elevation profiles to come)
Monday Ride Programme:
The Monday will see the Marathon ride completed with a final 40KM training ride being held during the morning using the AERA standard vetting.
Imbil is located about 2hrs via the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane.
Camp booking preferences are given to the 320km riders, all others campers are first in best dressed. Limited powered areas and yards available. No camping or driving is allowed inside the arena differing from previous years. Catering will be available from Friday courtesy of the Mary Valley Show Society.
Dogs are permitted at the ride, but please keep them on a leash at all times regardless of size.
Nominations for both CEI and AERA events are required by Monday the 22nd of March.
NO LATE NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM NOMINATIONS RECEIVED.
